Psychological Assessment
& Psychotherapy

The clinic

Clinic A Psychology was founded in 2020 by Amélie Poiron, certified psychologist. It offers online psychology consultation and therapy services (telepractice), offering individual therapies for an adolescent audience (from 13 years old) and a clientele adult, in French and English. She specializes, among other things, in the treatment of eating disorders.

At the heart of his practice are listening, empathy, kindness and respect for the person's rhythm, aiming to create a space of co-construction and elaboration conducive to the therapeutic encounter.

Therapy, designed as a process of support, offers a space for progress and elaboration around the reflections and questions raised by the person, with the aim of supporting the individual in listening to their suffering and tending towards an appeasement. It aims to enable the individual to better understand and know themselves by helping them to develop their own tools and avenues of reflection in a caring and safe therapeutic space.

When to Seek Help

Clinic A offers psychological assessment and psychotherapy services, recognizing that human beings must evolve and develop themselves in a multiple and varied environment, possessing remarkable capacities for adaptation. However, at different times in life, this adaptation can become difficult, making usual resources ineffective and preventing the individual from moving forward and coping with the events that present themselves to them. In such a context, the help of a psychologist may be necessary.

Adult

Different reasons can lead the individual to feel the need to seek help from a psychologist, such as being confronted with a personal impasse, a problem or persistent discomfort, wanting to change a behavior affecting their well-being, facing a one-off crisis , feeling supported when someone close to you is ill, coping with a difficult event or transforming certain aspects of your life.

Teenagers

Services for adolescents in care for difficulties linked to eating disorders are available from the age of 13. A first meeting with the parents is necessary to assess the nature of the child's difficulties, his family and/or school context. Then, assessment meetings are held with the child in order to establish the psychological intervention. Generally, the intervention takes place over several weeks and requires weekly monitoring at the beginning. Meetings may become less frequent as results are observed. It may be recommended to continue parental guidance at the same time.

Parental guidance

Parental support is a form of support offered to parents facing difficulties with their child or adolescent, particularly in the context of eating disorders. The objective is to guide them in their parental role and direct them in their interventions to strengthen them. The psychologist meets regularly with parents depending on the challenges encountered.

Clinical Director of Clinic A Psychology

After several years of experience in France, where she graduated in psychology in 2014, Amélie moved to Montreal and became a Member of the Order of Psychologists of Quebec in 2019.

She exercises an integrative approach in psychotherapy, combining the principles of the psychodynamic current, centered on the understanding of which antecedent experiences influence and affect today our feelings and our relationship with others, and a humanist approach, encouraging each person to draw on its resources and creativity. It is important for her to respect the rhythm and needs of each person in a caring space. Convinced that an integrative and creative approach makes it possible to better support people in their wholeness and their singularity, she remains open to enrichment from other schools of thought (CBT and systemic) to adapt to the specific needs of each individual. during meetings, which take place in a caring and secure environment, where she helps the client to better understand themselves and to mobilize their own inner resources to achieve their objectives
